It was a warm afternoon in Spring.
A student studying in the temple asked a
favor to a boy who was a novice Buddhist priest.
“Please bring a book whichever you find”
After for a while the boy brought the book
of document* from the shelf for the Buddhist priest who was in charge of the
temple. In the book, history and politics of ancient China are written. Then, the
student casted a glace at the book and said
“This is too low for me. Please bring a higher”
“Well,,, OK. I will bring another one” the
young priest said.
Next, he brought the classic of poetry** which
is the oldest Chinese collections of poem.
Contrary to his expectation, the student
said
“What?? again, this is too low for me!”
The young priest was so confused and talked
to the Buddhist priest. After listening to the story, the priest was so amazed and
said
“I see. he thinks these two difficult books
are too low because they are too easy for him. He must be so diligent!”
Finally, the priest brought some books of
sutras and went to see how he was doing.
“Excuse me”
He entered the room but surprisingly, he found the student was using books
to make a pillow and sleeping with it.*https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_Documents
